Plzn -- June 24, 2019

Ahoj,

Tuesday was a busy day. We went running early in the morning with President Churdle and the Elders. Then we helped a woman we are teaching prepare for an interview for her pHD and shared a spiritual thought with her. Then we had a Skype lesson with a guy in Plzen and right after a lesson with Radek. Then we taught our English class. After that we went to Andrea's performance that she invited us to. There was an orchestra and 4 singers. She was one of the singers, so we spent our dinner hour there supporting her. She has a beautiful voice. I was really impressed with the Czech culture. Everyone was dressed up and silent during the entire performance. They also always clap in unison at the end of each song which was something that doesn't really happen in America.
Wednesday we did some group finding and sang with the guitar on a busy street while everyone else who wasn't singing solo contacted and we switched off. Then we had district council which was wonderful. We all went to dinner together at a nice Czech resturant. Then we finished the night with correlation with the branch president.

Thursday we went running with the Elders and President churdle. Afterwards, we did our studies and then went to visit Věra. We shared a spiritual thought and played uno with her. Then we did weekly planning, device audits, and comp inventory. Next, we had a Skype lesson with Vergillio who is a recent convert in Plzen. It was a good lesson and we talked about temples. I really miss attending the temple and the special spirit that is there. Then we came home and made chocolate chip banana muffins to give to people and eat. :)

Friday was interesting because we went to Česky Krumlov for a lesson, but it was so packed with tourists and we couldn't get through the city because there was a Renissance Festival going on and you had to pay to get in. Luckily, we made it to our lesson, but all he wanted to do was argue with us about who has authority and that the authority was never lost. He wasn't willing to try to read the Book of Mormon. It was a really frustrating lesson. Then we came home and did a bunch of calls to clean out the area book because we are preparing to transfer all the paper records to electronic records.
Saturday we went on a trip to a beautiful castle called Hlubolka with our investigators and sis Sewell and her family because she just finished her mission and is touring around. It was fun. We actually got to go inside the castle and it was so beautiful! WOW! We shared a spiritual thought about temples and family and history which was cool. Then we had a lesson with Andrea and taught her the law of chastity. It went well and she said she would come to church with us. Then we got our stuides done and cleaned the church. Then we went to dinner with sis sewell's family, the glassers, and the elders which was a lot of fun. It was a wonderful day.

Sunday we had a wonderful day. We had 3 of our investigators at church. Radek, Andrea, and Jirka. Also, Věra was there and one of the Elders investigators who is a priest from another church. Sister Sewell who just finished her mission and her parents were there as well. We had a lot of people and it was so much fun! Then we came home and packed everything up and took a train to Plzen. We dropped our bags off at the apartment and then went and had dinner at Sister Juraskova's house. She made us knedlíky which is yummy. It had an apricot in the middle and it was covered in dough that you boil. They are little balls that you then cover in butter, tvaroh (cream cheese), and sour cream. Sounds like a strange combination, but it is pretty good.

Today was really relaxing. We got our shopping and cleaning done. Then we had to make of video introducing ourselves to the new mission President. Then we packed a picnic and went to a park and Sis Rudd taught me how to play the guitar. It was a lot of fun. Now we have family home evening. :)

This next week will be busy with changes because our new mission President is coming! But, I know President Gehring is called of God and I'm excited to see the changes to come. But, President and sister Pohořelicky will be greatly missed!

Well, I hope ya'll have a wonderful week.

I'm Training! June 17, 2019

Ahoj,

Sorry this didn't get sent last week. The highlight of this week was transfer calls. President called us on Saturday and told me I was training and my companion is follow up training in olomouc. We are both excited but nervous.

Monday we went to Dívčí Kàmen and toured some castle ruins. It was a really pretty hike too. We had a lot of fun.
Tuesday we had district council at the Glassers house. Then we had a lesson with Radek and taught the word of wisdom. He didn't have any concerns which was great and committed to live it. Then we taught our English class and afterwards had a lesson with Jaroslav about tithing because he had questions about it. It went well and he understood it. We also had correlation with President Churdle.

Wednesday was the first day we have had all transfer that wasn't jam packed with things. We were able to work on cleaning out the area book and we and then we tried to stop by some returing members houses, but no one ended up being home. We had a lesson with Jaroslav and taught him the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We tried to give him a Book of Mormon again, but he wouldn't take it and said he wouldn't read it. We told him that is the key to finding out if what we are teaching is true. A few days later he sent us a weird text saying he didn't want to meet anymore. It was really strange.

Thursday we handed out a lot of invitations to our new English connect program.  We had a lesson with Věra which was fun. When we left her house, it was pouring rain and we didn't have umbrellas. We got SOAKED! We had to go home and change our clothes. Then we had a lesson with Andrea. I love her.  We talked about obedience, prayer and scripture study. She said her first prayer and it was simple and sweet. She has some concerns with prayer so we committed her to pray and 9:30 PM and said we would pray with her at home. Then we came home and did weekly planning. When 9:30 rolled around, I kneeled by my bed and poured out my heart that Andrea would feel that God loves her. The spirit was really strong and it was a good experience.

Friday we went to visit a referral in Písek. We taught him the plan of salvation due to some things that has happened to him in the past. It was a good lesson. We also gave him a Book of Mormon. (Fast forward.. we followed up on his reading and he is already in Alma!) Then we went to visit Andrea and follow up on her experience with prayer. She said before she prayed she was so afraid, but she did it. She didn't have a big experience but, the next day she felt good and she took that as her answer. Then we had a lesson with Šarka and retaught her thr plan of salvation because she didn't remember anything we taught her last time.

Saturday morning President called us and gave us the big news. I'm pretty nervous to train, but I trust the Lord and I know he will help me. Then we taught the Glassers Czech. Then we had sports night, but no one came, so we went to dinner with the Glassers. Then we came home so sis Ockey could pack.

Sunday we met Gita early at the church. Then I translated all of sacrament meeting from Czech into English for the Glassers. Then the Glassers drove us 45 minutes away to have a lesson with Bronislav. We taught him the word of wisdom and it went really well. Then we came home and sis ockey finished packing.

It was a crazy week, but a good one. I hope you all are doing well.

Love,

Klet & Travelling -- June 17, 2019

Čau,

Well, this week was a lot of traveling.

Monday I helped my companion catch the train and then I spent some time with the Glassers until I had to take a train to plzen. It was about an hour and a half train ride by myself which was pretty strange. I met up with sister Rudd and I got to see some sights around Plzen. Then I got to talk to my family. Then we had family home evening and only one member showed up, so we ended up just planning activities we could do. Then we came home. It was a pretty laid back day.
Tuesday we took a train to Prague and talked to some Germans on the train, so that was pretty cool. Then sis Rudd had Visa work so I got to do some finding with a slovak sister who is also training. It was a lot of fun. Then we had a training for the trainers with President Pohořelicky and his wife. It was really good. Then we were able to meet the new missionaries. My greenie didn't receive her Visa, so I will be bouncing between 2 areas with sister Rudd. It will be busy! Then we crashed at the Prague sister training leaders apartment.

Wednesday we had a training with the new missionaries. President Pohořelicky again complimented me in front of all the missionaries on how clean our house was and that it felt like a temple. It was a good training. Then we did a bunch of traveling. First we took a 2 hour train ride to plzen so sister Rudd could grab some more clothes and then we took another 2 hour train ride to ceske budějovice. We are going to have to bounce back and forth between areas, so it will be busy! We also had a lesson with Radek and taught him about the 10 commandments and sabbath day observance. It was a good lesson and Sister Rudd and I worked well together.

Thursday we had a wonderful lesson with Andrea. We taught her about faith and how going to church, reading the sciptures, and praying will help us strengthen our faith. She said the closing prayer and the spirit just overwhelmed her and she started crying. It was powerful. Then we had to take a bus quite a ways to go visit a cute couple. They were really inrerested in personal experiences and had some trouble believing in the Book of Mormon. We were able to teach them the restoration and and had a good discussion. It was a good day.

Friday we did weekly planning for both Plzen and České Budějovice. It is hard because we are literally trying to cover 1/5 of the Czech republic. We have our hands full. We had a lesson with a man from Africa that went really well. We re-taught the restoration to see how much he remembered and he understands it well. We encouraged him to keep reading and praying.

Saturday we had district council and skyped in the Elders from Plzen. Then we went and visited Věra. We shared a spiritual thought and played uno again. I love her. Then we had a lesson with Radek and started planning his baptism. It is a slow going process and I honestly can't figure out what is holding him back. He's been taught all the lessons a few times, we've gone through all the baptismal interview questions, he comes to church every week, he comes to all of our activities we put on. He's more active then most members, but he just won't step into the water. It is quite frustrating and I'm not sure what to do. We had sports night and played soccer and then went to dinner at the Indian Resturant with the Elders and Glassers. On the way home, we got caught in a huge rain storm and got soaked, so we ended up just jumping in the puddles on the way home. Haha

Sunday was wonderful because we had two of our investigators at church. Then we visited Věra and olina. Afterwards we had a lesson with a new investigator and it went well. Then we had a Skype lesson with an investigator in Plzen. Technology is a blessing. Then I got to Skype my wonderful family and wish my dad happy Father's Day.

Today we hiked a mountain to Kleť and it was really pretty.

I'm grateful for the book of mormon and I know that it is true. President gave us a challenge to read 20 pages in the book of Mormon everyday. My testimony has grown a lot as I have recieved inspiration and answers to my questions. It is a beautiful book.

I love you all. Have a wonderful week.

Mission Conference & Biking in Trebon -- June 3, 2019

Čau,

I hope everyone has had a good week. Mine has been great. I can't believe that it is already the last week of the transfer. We get transfer calls on Saturday!

Monday the mission conference at Hotel Štamberk was incredible. We drove there with the Glasser's. It was a lot of fun to see everyone.  There was a very powerful spirit there. We sang precious savior, dear redeemer for president. Then President and his wife did a fireside and gave us marriage advice. Haha. I love them so much. They are incredible people.
Tuesday we got up and the mission Preisident's wife led us in some Yoga. Then we got ready and continued the conference. We received some great training. We now all have emergency kits in case something bad happens. Then 11 missionaries gave their testimonies before they go home in 2 weeks. President and his wife also bore their testimonies. The spirit was so strong and there were a lot of tears going around the room. Then President drove the Elders and us to a train station so we could make it back to české budějovice. It was a wonderful conference.

Wednesday morning we returned to a house that we had tracted earlier this transfer that said we could come back. The lady was nice and said she had someone over at the moment but that we could return on Friday! Then we tried to visit a less active. She answered her doorbell through the speaker and then claimed she wasn't home, and was at work. Well, that was not the truth. Oh well. Then we had some time to Skype our families. I got to watch my sweet little brother open his birthday presents and sing him happy birthday in Czech. We also went grocery shopping and cleaned our house. It was like half of a p-day.
Thursday was quite busy. We planned on visiting a returning member to bring her some food, but she got the things she needed from her sister, so we just ended up going shopping with Sister Churdlova. Then we went to lunch with Gita who is a member. Afterwards, we had a lesson with Bronislav and invited the Elders to come so we could take him on a tour of our building. We had a good lesson with him about faith and repentance. Next, we had a powerful lesson with Andrea. We taught her the gospel of Jesus Christ and committed her to be baptized on July 20th. She really trusts us and came to us with some concerns that we were able to answer with the spirit. It was a really cool experience.

Friday we had a lesson with vaclav and it went  really well. He mostly needed to talk about some things to get then off his chest. Then we ran over to another lesson to a woman we tracted into. We taught her the restoration but she just really wasn't that interested. Her heart just wasn't opened yet. Then we visited Vera and shared a spiritual thought with her. She painted a cute picture of horses and gave it to me. We had a potential cancel on us again, hopefully one of these days we will catch him. Then we went to dinner with the Elders and Vojtěch.

Saturday was really fun because we had a biking activity in Třebon. We had members there I had never met before and also 2 of our investigators. It was a successful turnout. We biked around a lake and then we had a fire and roasted hotdogs and marshmallows. Then we came home and cleaned the church. Then a member walked in to the church while we were cleaning and said we had to go to the town square to see the half marathon. I couldn't believe how many people were running! We couldn't get home because we couldn't cross the road due to the constant, heavy stream of runners! It was so much fun and it brought back a lot of cross country and track memories for me.

Sunday we had quite a few people at church, more than we have had for a while which I thought was really cool. I bore my testimony about Book of Mormon because President Pohořelicky gave us a challenge to read 20 pages out of the Book of Mormon every day in preparation for the new mission President who comes on June 29th. My testimony of the book of Mormon had truly grown a lot on the mission. After church we went and visited a less active with the Elders. They gave her the sacrament and we shared a spiritual thought. Then we had a lesson with Šarka who really opened up to us. We taught her the plan of salvation and focused on the atonement. Then we came home and did weekly planning because we have literally had no time this week to do it.

Today we went to Dívči Kamen. It was really pretty castle ruins. It was also a pretty hike through the forest.

I hope you all have a great week.

Love you,

Sestra Guymon
