Creepy Guy, Garage & Alcohol

Ahoj!!!!! Veselé Vánocé!!!! (Merry Christmas)

I'm so grateful for my Savior and that we get to celebrate his birth! He is my best friend! He lifts me up when I'm sad and laughs with me when I am happy. I feel so honored to testify about him everyday and invite others to come unto him.

Monday we went to Jihlava and went Christmas shopping! We hung out at the Trhy (litle shops on the town square) and I ate my first Tredelnik (it is like a churro) SO YUMMY! Then we came home and conacted and went ponolocking! We invited everyone to church on Sunday.

Tuesday we did some group finding with the Elders. We blew up light the world balloons and took them to the town square to invited people to church. This one guy stopped us and flipped open his wallet and was like..."I'm a police... what are you doing?" We told him we were missionaries and that we were giving balloons to people and inviting them to church. We gave him a balloon and he went away. We talked to a cool guy and taught him the whole restoration on the street! I love teaching on the street! That is something we are trying to do more. A lot of people know about us but they don't know what we believe. A lot of them won't even give us a chance, so we are trying to just straight up teach people now! We had district council. Then later in the evening we taught the beginner English class. Then the STL's came and slept over.

Wednesday we went on exchanges with the STL's. We saw so many miracles! We got around 8 people's numbers that day! The STL's are very bold and persistent in their contacting. If someone says they are hurring, they walk right beside them and talk to them. If someone says they are not interested, they keep talking to them anyways and chase them down. It is pretty fun to watch. I think sister Roberts and I needed that because we are both a little more timid in our contact approaches. We had a super awkward conact with one guy. He was eating something and we started talking to him... then he said... I'm eating... he looked like he was going to swallow his food and then answer our question... then he took a nibble, and then he took another big bite. It was so awkward. Sister Carrillo gave me the funniest look becuase we were both so confused. It took all I had not to laugh. When he finished his food we kept talking to him. It was pretty awkard though!

Thursday we went to Jihlava and did some group finding by carroling and handing out balloons. It was a lot of fun. I am getting a lot better at solo contacting, but it is still pretty scary because I still don't understand everything they are saying. We had inspiration night and played games and then watched a video and had a gospel discussion. It is very successful in terms of missionary work! We had a lot of non memebers there. We talked to a cool guy on the bus ride home... I hate bus contacting... it is always dead silent on those buses and so everyone listens to your entire conversation.

Friday we did more group finding here in Trebic. The AP's were here on exchanges with our Zone leaders. We built a tower out of Kniha Mormonova's and put a string of christmas lights around it. Some sang while the rest solo contacted. I solo contacted a lady and taught her the entire restoration by myself and gave her a book of Mormon, It was pretty awesome and I needed to do that to help myself realized that I can speak more Czech than I think and that people really can understand what I am saying. It was a good experience for me. Then we went and helped introduce the Dransfields (The senior couple from Idaho) to their neighbors. This cute grandma answered through the window and was so confused about what we wanted... she just referred us to the neighbors and we kept trying to explain that we were the neighbors. It was funny.

Saturday we did a lot of contacting and tracting. This whole week we have invited everyone to church. Then we went to an Old Folks home with our branch and sang the christmas songs that we have been practicing! It was so much fun! They were all singing along. It was really cute. I really liked what Elder Dransfield said, "They will remember that and be converted on the other side." I thought that was really cool.

Sunday we went to Jihlava and sang 4 songs for their christmas program. Sister Roberts and I sang a duet.. I was super nervous, but it went ok. The Jihlava branch doesn't have a ton of musical ability, so it was quite the sacarment meeting. it was an entertaining one for sure! Then we went back to trebic. One of the people we found in our area book that we invited came! That was awesome! We probably had 50 people there! The chapel was completely full! That is the most people I have ever seen at church here! It was amazing! Talks were given during church. After church, the primary acted out the nativity and it was super cute. Then we sang the songs we had been practicing. Then we had a ton of cukrovi (little cookies). It was a fun party! We were very pleased with the turnout!

Now for the story you have been waiting for...  Sunday night we went tracting and carroling with the Elders... we got to this one house and sang for a guy. He put on shoes, and grabbed his coat and came outside. He told us to follow him and he took us to his garage. He opened his garage and went inside, then he came out and he pointed at me and said "come" I was scared to death!!!! I went in his garage and he opened a cupboard, it was full of little bottles. We told him that we don't drink alchol. He told us it wasn't alchol and gave us each a bottle. He opened his and cheered us and we told him we would drink ours later. He also gave us a bunch of candy. When we left we read on the bottles. They were 15% alchol. We dumped them out when we got back to the church. Also, we got cukrovi at 2 other houses... one of them gave us a whole container, we ended up throwing it away because we weren't sure if it had alchol or not.

Those were my adventures this week!

Merry Christmas!

s laskou!
