Ahoj!
It has been quite the week. Change is always hard and I have felt a lot of pressure leading out the area and trying to figure out how I can help the people we are teaching. I feel like I have really had to grow up this week. I have also been a lot bolder with the language and we saw some really cool miracles this week.
Tuesday we found 3 potentials. We taught English with the Dransfields and shared a spiritual thought. We had a lesson with Pepe who Sister Roberts and I contacted and set up with. We taught the Plan of salvation and it went well. However, he keeps trying to meet with us at bars.... :(
Wednesday we had a great lesson with Tonda. He finally opened up to us and talked more. We taught him the plan of salvation. He is having a hard time accepting the atonement, therefore he didn't believe we could be resurrected. If any of you have any advice on how to help someone understand the atonemement, I would like to hear it. He also prayed for us for the first time and it was a beautiful prayer. He is such a golden man. I see so much potential in him. We also contacted this cute lady who works at a food stand, we always wave at her, but haven't had the chance to talk to her. She was on her smoke break so we talked to her and got her number and are going to set up. That was a miracle. Then we taught our neighbor boys english.
Thursday we had district council. Our new elder came straight from the MTC. We did some solo contacting and I was able to get 3 numbers so that was cool. Then we came home and had some tracting miracles. We contacted this guy getting in his car. He has met missionaries and said he would be willing to meet. That was cool. Then right after that we contacted this stroller dad, dad walking with his baby and gave him our message and he said he would be willing to meet. We got his number too. It was awesome! In our companion study Sis Sewell said she has been learning a lot from my diligent work ethic and obedience. I appreciated that she oppened up and told me that becuase I have been feeling a lot of weight on my shoulders.
Friday we did a lot of contacting and couldn't find anyone super interested. We went ponolocking and took some sketcy elevators down. Then we got a quick lunch at a grocery store and saw Martin there (recent convert of about a year). He was not his normal self. He was drunk and I was so disappointed. I just don't know what to do to help him. He is really struggling. It breaks my heart. I really have seen how drinking and smoking destroys people's lives. They lose their freedom because their body feels like they have to have it. I'm so grateful for the word of wisdom, it keeps us safe. We went tracting and found such a youthful, lively 90 year old man. He was so cute. It was a little ironic though becuase the street we chose to tract was all old people and we chose to talk about life after death.
Saturday we went to church so I could practice the piano becuase I was asked to play in sacrament. Afterwards, we contacted this woman looking at a menu. She invited us to lunch with her. We went and shared the restoration with her. She was so sweet! Such a miracle! God's timing is incredible becuase we were literally headed home for lunch and we were just in the right place at the right time. She invited us to lunch with her boyfriend, and boyfriend's son this upcoming week. Then we went tracting for 4 1/2 hours and found two potential families to teach. We got their numbers so we could set up. It was so cool because we set a goal to find 2 potentials and a family. God blessed us with 2 families.
Sunday I played the piano in sacrament. We had one investigator come to church. We went tracting with the Elders and tried to sing songs for people...we got the cops called on us... but they can't really do anything.
Monday we got our cleaning and shopping done. Then we went to lunch with the Elders and Dransfields and then we went and walked around the basillika and the Jewish quarters. it was a good day.
I love you all and hope you are doing well!
s laskou,
Sestra Guymon
