Ahoj,
Tuesday we had district council and did district inventory. Our district is awesome. Then we came home and did our studies. Afterwards, we taught our English class and had 3 new people come who just saw our sign on the door. One of which was interested in our message and so we are going to start teaching her which is exciting! Then I Sister Draper had me try Couscous for dinner. :)
Wednesday was a really hard day for us in terms of the work. A lot of things got canceled and plans kept falling through. We tried to visit our miracle lady we met on the street who gave us her address, but when we went there, we couldn't find her name on the doorbell. We tried ringing other people, but they were all businesses, so I hope we run into her again. Then we had a lesson with Andrea and she looked so sad and tired. She wasn't her normal happy self. We had her write down all of her questions about the church and we found answers to them together. Her heart just didn't seem open. Despite the rough morning, we did have a miracle. We met with the cute grandma that lives in our ponolock. She gave us chlebíček and cake. We shared our family pictures, sang her some hymns with the ukulele and taught her how to pray. She kept getting phone calls and she was telling all her friends about us, it was cute.
Thursday was a busy and fun day. We had a lesson with Honza and finished teaching him the restoration. He is keeping commitments and progressing well, the hardest part is just setting up with him because he lives so far away. Then we took a train about an hour out to go visit a member. She is the strongest woman in our branch and travels so far to come to church every Sunday. We wanted to show our gratitude for her so we went to visit her. She showed us around her city, bought us the best ice cream and took us to a chocolate factory where we learned how chocolate is made and got to try some. We then sat next to a lake and read Ether 3 and talked about faith. Sister Škodová is just such an amazing example to me. I love her so much.
Friday was just so emotionally and spiritually taxing. We had amazing studies in the morning that helped us prepare for a big task ahead of us later in the day.... We did weekly planning and had a lot of people to plan for and schedule with. About 1/2 through we had to stop for our long awaited lesson with Radek and President Chrdle. We had been preparing for this lesson for over a week. We talked to Radek about baptism and surprised him with a baptismal program with his name on it. I have never seen him smile so big and I will never forget his face when he saw it. We invited Radek to be baptized on September 21, 2019. He was hesitant, so we had him pray about it right there in that lesson and afterwards he said he felt a good and positive feeling. He accepted the invitation to prepare for baptism on that day and President Chrdle commited him to pray and to receive his own personal confirmation that it was right before Sunday. Radek said he would text us when he got his confirmation. Radek will be baptized at a youth single adult conference at Hotel Štamberk and I am excited to watch him take this step on the path back to Heavenly Father. We came home and finished companion study with gratitude and prayers in our hearts that Radek will quickly receive his confirmation.
Saturday we did our morning studies and then the Glassers drove us out to Prachatice to visit Eliška at the hospital. Her twins are due in January and she had a check up. We were able to share a spiritual thought with her about the Book of Mormon. She is so sweet and I really enjoy talking to her, but she sure does have a lot on her plate. She's already got 5 small kids. She said the sweetest prayer at the end of our lesson. Then the Glassers had us take a quick stop at the namesti and there was this festival going on with a band and people dressed up in soldier costumes with old motorcycles. It was fun to see. We grabbed an ice cream cone and went on our way. Then we went and cleaned the church and had sports night afterwards. We invited 4 random teenagers to come and play soccer with us and it was so much fun! Radek was there and didn't mention anything about recieving a confirmation.
Sunday we had quite a few people at church. I played a piano arrangement of "if you could hie to kolob" for a musical number. I was really nervous, but it went well. I also translated most of sacrament meeting, so it was pretty busy. One of the Elders' investigators came to church. She is really old and couldn't make it up the stairs to the chapel, so the Elders stayed downstairs with her during sacrament and the second hour we stayed with her and taught her the plan of salvation. Then we went and visited Olina who is a less active and she promised to come to church next week. So, we will do everything we can to get her there. Then we came home and did our studies and finished the day with correlation with the branch President.
Today we went mushroom hunting and this really old lady took us. It took us 2 hours to walk out to the forest and to her cottage. Then a miracle guy saw us and picked us up in his car and brought us back to the train station. We found some mushrooms, but not any we could eat. Haha. It was fun. Lots of good stories came of it. Then we had a lesson with Radek. He didn't receive a confirmation that baptism was right, so the baptism is off. So keep him in your prayers.
Have a wonderful week.
S laskou,
Sestra Guymon
